1.For this assignment, we were required to create a piece of art using objects. For my piece, I decided to arrange different colored pencils so that they would form a diamond-like shape, while using different pieces of colored paper as a background. I then edited the image to make the colors slightly darker, and I changed the texture of the picture.
2. I believe I used a variety of colors, such as different shades of blues and greens. I also mainly used orange and green for the smaller strips of paper, and blue for the larger pieces. 3. I believe I also used a pattern when picking the colors/ The top and bottom areas both show an orange piece of paper in the middle of two green ones. In the middle of the diamond, there are pieces of green paper surrounding the orange paper. 4.I was inspired by images of people forming shapes out of paper or objects. Here, I was able to arrange the pencils on a colored background while using the materials I had to create a pattern. 5.I believe I was successfully able to arrange my materials in a way that formed an interesting design, while also using patterns and unity. I learned how almost any object can be used to create a piece of art if it is arranged correctly.

1. For this project, I was required to take at least 3 pictures that represented my viewpoint during this pandemic. After taking the images, I would have to edit them using different shades of colors and effects. I was also able to rotate them if I felt that it would make them more interesting. I also used the rule of thirds grid in order to help me decide which sections of the images I wanted to keep.
2. I believe that I edited the colors in most of my photos in order to make them more interesting. I changed one of the photos to a gray and white picture, and the picture displaying the window of the closed building was a darker gray color, instead of a gray-blue. I also darkened the colors of the words on the sign. 3.I believe I was able to use a variety of effects on my images as well. For example, I edited the image of the cleaning supplies to make it look like they were on a gray background with shadows on the corners. I also made the color of the window lighter, and the plant went from a reddish-pink color, to a light pink color. Finally, I both darkened the colors on the sign, and added a slightly different texture. 4. I was inspired to pick these images because they are what I have been seeing for the last few weeks. This can include people using more cleaning supplies, and more buildings being closed. I believe these images best represent my viewpoint of this pandemic. 5. I think that I was able to successfully make changes to these images in order to make them represent my viewpoint better, and make them look slightly more interesting. I was able to use what we learned in our class and from the videos we watched while editing them, which helped me complete this project. 6. I have learned several things from this project. I learned how images can be edited more easily using the rule of thirds, and that we can crop and rotate images on certain cameras or phones. I believe I will use what I learned in future projects involving images. 1. For this assignment, I was required to take a picture of someone I know and then create their portrait. I had to use the correct proportions and the right amount of shading to make it look more realistic. In order to do that, I used a variety of drawing pencils, and watched multiple videos on how to create realistic portraits. I also had to take images of my sketches and planning, as well as the warm-ups that I believed were the most helpful.
2. I believe I used value when shading the image. I used a lighter pencil for shading the eyes and mouth, since they had less of a shadow than the neck or hair. I also used a darker pencil for sections like the hair and the shirt, in order to make it look more like the photograph I took. I also believe I used proportions when designing the face. I placed the eyes slightly above the middle of the face, and I drew lines that helped me place the different features in the correct places. After erasing the lines, the picture began to look more realistic. 3. I was inspired to draw my portrait after watching videos that helped me learn more about drawing the parts of the face. I also enjoyed our drawing project that we did earlier, so I decided to draw for this assignment as well. I was also inspired to purchase different drawing pencils, which I used for my project. 4. I believe that I successfully drew the proportions of the face. This is because I used lines that helped me determine where I should put the different parts. I also believe the shading of the darker areas was successful too. I made sure to use the correct pencils for the lighter areas, and switched to darker pencils for darker areas. After doing this project, I learned more about shading images and drawing more realistic features. I believe I will use what I learned in later drawings or projects. 1. For this project, I was required to either paint a location, or a combination of two images. We would have to paint it on canvas paper attached to a board. We also had to mix colors together, in order to create new tints and shades, as well as new colors. For my piece, I decided that the largest image would be a combination of a fish and pliers. The painting would have the body of a fish, with pliers as the head and tail. I decided that I wanted an ocean background, and looked up reference images of different species of fish, coral, and aquatic plants.
2.For my piece, I blended colors together on certain images. For example, on the largest fish, I decided to mix different blues together, in order to create different shades of the color and paint the fish. I started with the lightest blue, and ended with the darkest one. I also used some contrasting colors, such as adding green sea plants and light purple coral against the dark blue background. I also made the top of my image a lighter blue and the bottom much darker, with the middle being a mix of those colors. I also believe I used variety in my work. I was able to draw and paint multiple species of fish, giving them different features and colors. I also added different forms of coral at the bottom, as well as more fish near them. 3.I mainly created this piece because I have always enjoyed combining things and turning them into something else. I was inspired by artwork that combined either two different animals, or animals and objects. This made me want to create my own piece of art. 4. I believe my final piece was successful because I was able to paint the main image that I wanted to put the most emphasis on, and I was able to add all of the other details I believe I needed. I learned how to add texture to paintings, and how to use contrasting colors and images in order to make paintings more interesting. I believe I will use what I learned in later art projects.
